Koichi Sato - コウイチサトウ

コウイチサトウ

KOICHI SATO (JAPAN DJ/Producer/Label Owner)
Koichi Sato began expressing his love of music during his high school days by collecting records and, of course, spinning them. At the youthful age of 17 he started his very own rock event. From its humble beginnings at a small club with only 20 guests, Koichi's party blew new life into the Osaka rock scene by not only hosting members of bands like Tahiti 80 and Passion Pit as guest DJs, but also holding the official Japan Tour parties for bands such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Muse and more.

Koichi's focus on dance music began shortly after graduating high school. Spinning mostly Tech House and Techno tracks, he held several residencies at clubs in both Osaka and Tokyo.

He also opened for international acts like Pendulum, Basement Jaxx, Daddy G (Massive Attack), UNKLE, Darren Emerson (ex Underworld), Feeder and many others.

Not content with just working the club scene, Koichi expanded into performances at the famous Fuji Rock Festival, at fashion shows for some of the world's top brands and even hosting a regular show on one of Japan's most popular radio stations, FM802. 2010 saw Koichi begin his own record label, Sugar Recordings, from which he releases original music, creates songs for use in major companies' commercials, presents compositions to major Asian artists, and produces background music and sound effects for use on the radio.

From 2015 and on, Koichi has been focusing more deeply on creating his own music and has released remixes and original productions on several record labels from all over Europe including Italy, Spain, Russia and Germany, to name a few. This year, 2017, has so far seen Koichi collaborate with Japanese DJ/Producer Mika Kitten to release their EP, Xuclar EP, on The YellowHeads' imprint Reload Records, which charted in at 62 on Beatport's Techno Top 100. The rest of the year will see him work on an original album.
